How Much Does a .MUSIC Domain Cost?

As you’ve probably read, the .MUSIC domain pre-registration phase is now live and it’s exciting to see so many of our music industry friends already participating. A lot of the big names have already been verified including: apple.music, microsoft.music, spotify.music, iheart.music, umg.music, and many more.

As you go through the request process, please know that the name(s) you select must be related to your artist, band, or business. You cannot get a generic name like rock.music, and here’s why:

We will have a special community-based templated strategy when it comes to 5 verticals:

1) Genres e.g. christian.music, rock.music etc.

2) Instruments e.g. guitar.music, drums.music etc.

3) Languages e.g. French.music, Korean.music etc.

4) Cities e.g. Nashville.music, Paris.music etc.

5) Countries e.g. Greece.music, Korea.music etc.

These names will not be sold or auctioned out to the highest bidder. Rather, they will be shared by .MUSIC registrants and will be populated based on registrant-submitted information and licensed data from providers such as Jaxsta, AllMusic, MusicStory, MusicBrainz, Discogs etc.

Let’s say you are looking for a cellist. You’ll go to Cello.music and find one. Let’s say you’re visiting London. You can go to London.music and can find gigs that are happening there, even music community members that you can work with from that region.

Think of it like a “dating service” exclusive only to verified members of the music community with a .MUSIC. Every member will be given what we call a SmartBadge with a QR code (similar to what you see in our newsletter signature).
